Student Organizations

The TCU Computer Science Department supports several student organizations that build community, develop professional skills, and connect students with industry. We strongly encourage every Computer Science, Computer Information Technology (CITE), and Data Science student to get involved.

Computer Science Society (CSS)

The Computer Science Society is the department's flagship student organization, serving all students in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, and Data Science. CSS connects students with each other, with faculty, and with industry professionals through events, professional development, and departmental engagement.

We highly recommend that all students attend CSS meetings each fall and spring semester.

What CSS Offers

  • Professional development — tech resume workshops, internship and co-op panels, mock interviews

  • Industry networking — networking nights with local tech companies, guest speaker series featuring alumni and industry professionals

  • Technical skill-building — hands-on workshops on topics like Git, APIs, cloud platforms, and data analysis

  • Community — welcome events, end-of-semester socials, and a culture that makes sure every student in the department feels they belong

  • Recognition — annual awards celebrating outstanding students, TAs, mentors, and faculty

Other Organizations We Encourage

These organizations are based in TCU's Department of Engineering rather than Computer Science, but they welcome CS students and complement — rather than replace — the department's own organizations above:

  • Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
